After her fulminant appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", Ellen Page kicked off the extensive promotion tour for »The Umbrella Academy« in the Polish capital on February 4. There, she chatted with several journalists at the Raffles Europejski hotel and visited the local radio stations Trójka
(PR3) and Czwórka
(PR4) for interviews. However, the highlight in this context was without a doubt the conversation in the "mobile studio" of "Onet Rano
" which was broadcasted live from a car driving around the city of Warsaw. Ellen, who admitted being in Poland for the first time ever, also got a little sightseeing tour in a relaxed atmosphere this way.
On that Thursday she met up with the rest of the main cast for the British premiere screening of the Netflix series held at Curzon Cinema Mayfair in London. During the stay Page appeared on BBC Radio 6
and BBC Radio 5 Live
, where she talked about "The Umbrella Academy" and took the opportunity to recap the recent events such as her statement against US Vice President Mike Pence for opposing gay marriage. Fortunately, the Canadian actress were able to take breaks between the many appointments and got the chance to visit FC Liverpool's Anfield stadium
for example. Despite their tight schedule, Ellen and co-star Mary J. Blige even attended the 72nd annual British Academy Film Awards and presented the prize for Best Supporting Actress to Rachel Weisz for her role in the royal drama "The Favourite".
The third stop on this journey was the mandatory US premiere held at ArcLight Hollywood on February 12, where Ellen was accompanied by her good friend and »Whip It«
co-star Alia Shawkat. On the next day she popped by the PopBuzz studio
to discuss her the new Netflix series, working with creator Gerard Way on the set and the possibility of a second season. From there she headed for Toronto to face another busy day which included appearances on "Your Morning
" and "Breakfast Television Toronto
", interviews with media outlets such as The Canadian Press
- which gave the Haligonian the chance to talk about her efforts to amplify the voices of marginalized communities in Nova Scotia who are disproportionately impacted by environmental hazards - and the Canadian premiere at TIFF Bell Lightbox in the evening.
Just one day later Page was already back in the United States and sat down with her namesake on "The Ellen Show" to speak out on issues close to her heart, like LGBTQ rights and the environment, and open up about first connecting with her now-wife Emma Portner on Instagram as well as playing a superhero once again. At this point, we want to mention that we really did our best to keep up with all videos and podcasts showing up since the beginning of this month. You can find some of them embedded in this post with the rest being shared on our YouTube playlist
as well as the audio section
of this website. Feel free to get in touch with us if we missed something or you believe there's some stuff which should be a part of the collection.
Finally, we would like to note that Ellen was featured on the covers of UK's The Observer Magazine
and Balance Magazine
. While both issues come with in-depth articles and images from dedicated photoshoots, self-made scans have been added to our gallery for your reading pleasure in the meanwhile!
